Forest Fire: Kaibab National Forest
On our way back from the Grand Canyon on Friday we saw a huge column of smoke rising from the horizon. As we got closer we saw signage stating that they were doing a controlled burn in Kaibab National Forest. Being naturally curious I had to go check it out. My passengers were nervous but equally curious and willing to go as well. I was the only one that was game for actually getting out of the car and going to check it out. So, I parked the van far enough away that there wasn't any danger and sprang from the vehicle with anticipation. Surprisingly, you really can go right up to it and if you had the desire even into the fire. Not being such a fool hearty person I chose to stay next to the edge and take some photos. It was really exciting.
