We went geocaching in Sycamore Canyon with the Gordon's today. We found 3 out of the 4 we went looking for. The last geocache I couldn't find and it resulted in a steep 1400 - 1500 foot descent down a cliff side after a steep 500 foot climb to get up to it!
On our way back from the Grand Canyon on Friday we saw a huge column of smoke rising from the horizon. As we got closer we saw signage stating that they were doing a controlled burn in Kaibab National Forest. Being naturally curious I had to go check it out. My passengers were nervous but equally curious and willing to go as well. I was the only one that was game for actually getting out of the car and going to check it out. So, I parked the van far enough away that there wasn't any danger and sprang from the vehicle with anticipation. Surprisingly, you really can go right up to it and if you had the desire even into the fire. Not being such a fool hearty person I chose to stay next to the edge and take some photos. It was really exciting.
We stopped at McCarrell Memorial Cemetery on the Navajo Nation. The sign on the side of the building says Minyards Garage.
Latitude: 35.1575 : Longitude: -109.49389Yesterday, for 16 hours me and Kevin went on a road trip to Albuquerque, NM to pick up a car. Along the way, I had to stop and get photos of course. From 6:21am to 11pm we drove, saw the sites, and had quite a bit of fun along the way.
This was a car wreck between a Saturn and Volkswagen that took place on the Keyes Road overpass just outside Turlock, California.
This photo was taken June 12, 2007.
Taken from an earlier photo. I converted it to black and white and added film grain.
Photo taken May 10, 2007 in Turlock, CaliforniaHere's a photo I took of the 7th Street Bridge, also called the Lion's Gate Bridge in Modesto, CA.
An individual was spotted carrying a gun around an office building and 911 was called. Later, an officer arrived on the scene and witnessed through the glass door another individual carrying an assault rifle. Reinforcements were quickly called and a stand off began. This sniper was positioned across the street from the office. It ended without incident and the suspects were taken into custody. It was determined that the guns were fake, although the assault rifle had it’s orange tip obscured by black paint to make it look “more real.”
This was taken outside the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas. If I remember right, this was handheld, too.
It's an old water tanker parked next to a windmill water pump. It looks like it made it's trip one last time and wasn't going to do it again.
I took this photo on March 6, 2006. It was taken on the Altamont which is between the San Francisco Bay Area and Stockton, California.
